The art of stone carving involves the careful removal of material, whether through freehand sculpting or carving to a defined shape or line. A skilled carver must be able to visualise the finished form before any material is removed, as each cut is deliberate and irreversible.
Over time, I have refined this ability through hands-on experience across a wide variety of carving projects, developing a strong understanding of form, proportion, and detail.

My passion for stone carving began at the age of 15, when I completed my first piece — a sycamore seed delicately carved from alabaster stone. This early work laid the foundation for the craftsmanship and precision that continues to define my work today.

"Alex is a true craftsman. We hired him to cut and shape complex crowns for a chimney, and although the layout was more complicated than it appeared, his precision measurements ensured the fitment on-site was perfect from start to finish. Everything was excellent. Alex is an easy communicator, a pleasure to work with, and possesses a true passion for stonemasonry that we both share. Thanks again for the great work." - Jamie Underwood
